Mental Health Madness
Quantifying Anxiety Drivers in RHIT Students
As part of my year-long senior capstone project, I decided to conduct my own research to determine how much of an effect financial stressors had on students at Rose-Hulman. I designed a survey that measured both financial stress and mental health indicators, focusing on the Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) scale as a standardized measure of student well-being. My goal was to identify whether financial stressors were significantly correlated with higher levels of anxiety among students.
To carry out the analysis, I collected responses from Rose-Hulman students, cleaned and organized the data, and applied statistical techniques to evaluate the relationship between financial stress and mental health outcomes. The project not only allowed me to practice survey design, data analysis, and statistical modeling, but also gave me the opportunity to address an important issue that directly affects student life and success.
